Released 30 years ago today, Shocked was Kylie’s fourth and final single taken from her third studio album Rhythm of Love. The song is a big fan favourite and has appeared on the setlist of most of her tours.
Written and produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman, Shocked debuted on the UK Singles Chart at No.10, then peaked at No.6. Kylie became the first artist in history to have her first 13 consecutive singles hit the Top 10 in the UK.
The video was almost a sequel to previous video for What Do I Have To Do in which model Zane O’Donnell (rumoured to be her actual boyfriend at the time) returned to play her love interest. Both videos had a much more stylised and adult vibe to them which was a decision made by Kylie to change gear and show the world she was no longer ‘the girl next door’.

Shocked performed well internationally charting at No.2 in Ireland, No.8 in Finland, and No.7 in Australia.
