So, last night during the Q&A section of her socially distanced Heavy Love: Intimate & Live gig at The Clapham Grand, we discovered that Louise Redknapp turned down the opportunity to play the role of Emily in Friends. This was because it clashed with an appearance on Top of the Pops to promote her music.

The character of Emily went on to become a series regular, almost marrying David Schwimmer’s Ross Gellar in season four’s finale of hugely popular US sitcom, and would have been a heavy hitting, big break for Louise’s acting career. Luckily for fans of her music, she chose to focus on her music career and turned down the role.
It is rumoured that this role was also offered to Victoria Beckham, who turned down the part which was eventually portrayed by Helen Baxendale.
The Government approved, social distanced gig last night saw Louise on top form and in her element on stage in a bid to lead the way for the music and theatre industry to get back on track during the current Covid-19 epidemic. The gig, hosted by BBC Radio 2’s @richie_anderson, was also streamed online via Zoom and Twitch was heavily praised by fans.
